2012 - 2013 Call for Leaders

Being a board member is a great way to meet and interact with more people in our industry and expand your scope of influence. Our strong and vibrant MPI chapter relies upon continued service from members like you to help lead our association. PMPI is currently seeking members to fill the following leadership positions on the 2012-2013 PMPI Board of Directors:

Nominations for all positions will be in accordance with the PMPI Bylaws. Any planner or supplier member in good standing is eligible for nomination and election to these positions. The Governance & Nominating Committee (identified below) is responsible for submitting a slate of candidates to MPI for the open positions.

In order to apply you must submit a candidate interest form to be reviewed by the nominations committee. Your interest form should include the skills and talents you can bring to the board, any past involvement with the chapter, recognition of the time commitment involved in a leadership role and a declaration of your employer’s support.

The time is now, if you believe you will add strength and character to this chapter leadership, then please submit your application. If you believe a colleague has great leadership skills, please encourage him or her to submit a completed Candidate Interest Form.

Applications are now open online and will close February 1, 2012 for terms beginning July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013 (see link below). This year the application is to be submitted on line. (see below). Please note, once you begin this online form, you must complete it in its entirety. You will NOT be able to save your work within this form. It is recommended that you review the Candidate Interest Form Questions. and draft your answers in a Word document. Once you are ready to submit your application, you can copy and paste your answers into the form fields. Please note that the Nominating Committee is requesting a head shot and a resume to provide additional insight on your professional experience. Please send those to info@pmpi.org

Applications are now open and will close February 1, 2012 for terms beginning July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

Applications must be received on or before Wednesday, February 1, 2012 to be considered.
Between February 1, 2012 and March 1, 2012, the nominations & governance committee will be reviewing all applications received and personal phone interviews or in-person interviews will be conducted. After all interviews are administered, the committee will create the slate of candidates. On or about March 5, 2012, the slate will be emailed to the membership and will be posted on the chapter website.

Additional nominations from the membership shall be permitted if a minimum of ten (10) percent* of the membership have signed a petition to submit each additional nomination to the membership, provided such petitions are received by PMPI within two (2) weeks from original announcement. Petitions for additional nominations must be for a specific seat or office and must reflect the individual being challenged. A member must have applied for the position for which they are petitioning. The petition form must include a printed name, signature and membership number. Each petition must be supported by written notice from the additional nominees of their availability and willingness to serve, as well as a photograph and biography.

If less than ten (10) percent * of the membership contests the slate; the proposed slate will be confirmed. If more than ten (10) percent * of the membership contests the slate we will conduct an election for all contested positions. If a position is contested, the individuals running for the contested position shall be fairly presented to the membership through an electronic distribution with qualifications of both parties represented. Then the membership shall respond to the ballot. The winner shall be the person receiving the most votes cast. Assuming no position is contested the submitted slate shall officially be elected. The final and binding list of elected chapter officials will be sent to MPI headquarters by May 1st. Newly elected officers and directors shall be installed at the next annual meeting following election.

*Percentage will be calculated based the total number of members of the Potomac Chapter as of December 31, 2011
