Career Development Committee
PMPI’s Career Development Committee is dedicated to:
- Fostering opportunities for members to advance their career through industry designations and skill development,
- Offering twice yearly 11-week study courses and weekend intensive study sessions focused on preparation for the CMP exam,
- Serving our members with information and resources on other industry designations,
- Providing members with grab-and-go information and training opportunities for planners at all levels, regardless of designation,
- Providing CMP study session facilitators with resources and training to ensure session quality.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain industry designation information on the PMPI website.
- Plan and facilitate twice yearly CMP study course sessions and weekend prep sessions.
- Connect members with mentors who have earned their designation(s).
- Engage members through phone calls and in-person mentoring.
- Write articles for PMPI’s magazine and e-newsletters.
- Host grab-and-go information sessions on targeted areas for skill or knowledge development.
- Train CMP course facilitators on best practices in preparation for delivering skill-development and CMP study course sessions.
- Partner with other PMPI committees on strategic initiatives.
Time Commitment:
This committee welcomes all levels of involvement – no contribution is too little. The committee holds monthly conference calls to keep everyone up-to-date on our activities, with one to two in-person committee meetings per year. You do not have to hold a designation to serve on the committee, just an interest in advancing the skills, knowledge, and careers of our members.
PMPI Story:
The best part of being a member on PMPI’s Career Development Committee is the opportunity to support our members through the designations process and witness so many each year earn a designation. We are excited about expanding the scope of the committee in the coming year to offer skill development training (regardless of designation) to planners at all levels.
