Student Relations Committee
PMPI’s Student Relation’s Committee is dedicated to:
- Fostering and maintaining Student and Faculty memberships,
- Increasing campus awareness of MPI/PMPI,
- Serving our community’s future professionals by assisting with educational establishments’ program development,
- Creating student-friendly meetings/programming, and
- Providing students with internship and post-graduation job opportunities.
Activities include tracking job/internship postings, connecting students to volunteer opportunities, hosting workshops with industry panelists, hosting networking happy hours and brown bag sessions, and providing an opportunity for students to gain valuable industry experience and professional development. This committee partners closely with local and regional educational establishments offering hospitality and related degrees.
Responsibilities:
- Tracking job/internship postings
- Partnering with local and regional colleges and universities
- Connecting students to volunteer opportunities
- Hosting workshops with industry panelists
- Writing articles for Potomac Memo and e-newsletters
- Engaging students through phone calls and in-person mentoring
- Speaking at university classes and various community events
- Hosting information or brown bag sessions
- Partnering with other PMPI committees on strategic initiatives
- Maintain student distribution list for communication and resources
Time Commitment:
This committee welcomes all levels of involvement – no contribution is too little. The committee holds monthly conference calls to keep everyone up-to-date on our activities, with one (1) in-person committee meeting per year.
PMPI Story:
The best part of being on PMPI’s Student Relation’s Committee is the chance to work with tomorrow’s leaders. Students often have an unbridled curiosity and excitement for the meetings’ industry that is incomparable. It is so rewarding to be able to give back to such appreciative individuals.
